We can recommend Titanic by 60 Out in Los Angeles, but that requires an expanded explanation. We recommend this room for its beautiful set, which effectively drives the narrative of the Titanic story. The varied puzzles generally make excellent use of the theme and content, and 60 Out delivers both clues and content in an organically integrated way.

Expanded explanation about our visit shortly after the room opened. We had fun, so we recommend this room. However, we encountered three technical failures that forced us to leave our immersive world and request a workaround from our game hosts. Normally, this would mean we do not recommend this room. However, in the case of Titanic by 60 Out, we considered that the room had just opened, and we were assured by the staff that the issues we encountered would be addressed. If you play this room and encounter, please let us know if the issues have been fixed. I will try to address the issues in this review without spoilers. We recommend this room with a Fun Factor of 8, but due to the problems we encountered, our experience was a Fun Factor of 6. We are hopeful that 60 Out will resolve these issues.

60 Out had a Titanic-themed room in another location where we played many years ago. They reused a couple of the set pieces and props from that old game, but for the most part this is a brand new escape room.

First Class Cabin Hallway

Your team will start in separate locations - thus, we recommend a team size of 4 so that you can be evenly split. But this room is playable by a team of two. We generally do not like split starts - but 60 Out did a good job of limiting the time the group is split and providing content that drives that effectively drives the narrative of the immersive theme (no pun intended…really!). So, from that perspective, we appreciated and enjoyed the separate start. But this was the first tech failure that we hope is not repeated…both groups fairly quickly solved the puzzles to move on…but the door to the next phase would not open for one of the groups, and the game host told us to exit the escape room and walk into the “other” side to use the one door which opened.

60 Out leans into the Titanic theme. You will find yourself in the communications room, complete with a Morse code transmitter. This room was our favorite. There is a lot of content here and varied puzzles, which were generally well and cleverly integrated into the theme. 60 Out also makes very effective and organic use of high-definition video to immerse into this world.

As we progressed, we encountered a task that suited the theme, but it was both too loud and was the second thing that did not function properly for us. We interacted with our game hosts, who told us we were doing everything right and could not explain why we didn’t trigger the next element. We really appreciated the authentic feel of the experience, but we hope that 60 Out can find a way to reduce the volume or at least ensure that this phase ends quickly while maintaining the organic nature of this task.

The game continued with 60 Out, delivering big on, taking us further into the Titanic with another well-decorated set room containing several puzzles and tasks that organically fit the theme. This room contained several well-clued and clever puzzles of varied techniques. Our third and final tech failure occurred here when some needed material got caught up in the mechanism and failed to drop - we are told that this is not an unusual occurrence - we suggested a possible additional set piece that might seamlessly solve this issue.

So keeping in mind that this is a newly opened room - we are confident that 60 Out will resolve these issues. We recommend Titanic by 60 Out - let them know you saw our review - check it out, tell us what you think and HAVE FUN!
