We enjoyed playing Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle and can recommend it - we gave it a Fun Factor of 7. PanIQ Escape Rooms operates globally, offering a variety of escape room experiences. The "Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle " escape room is exclusively located at PanIQ’s NYC site and is an original game developed by a predecessor company based in NYC that has been maintained and kept alive by PanIQ. Kudos to PanIQ for saving existing escape rooms that might have closed their doors too, if not acquired by PanIQ. PanIQ once had another site in NYC, that location is now closed and is using these legacy game as their NYC base of operations.
Importantly, the "Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle" is a different escape room than the "Pirates of Tortuga" escape room available at other PanIQ locations. We have played both and can attest to their differences. Initially, we were uncertain about playing the "Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle" due to the promotional video on the PanIQ website, which features the same footage for both rooms. However, while the marketing is the same, the actual gameplay experiences of each room are quite distinct and unique..
Overall, we rate the difficulty of the room as “intermediate,” but many of the puzzles, with the notable exception of the final puzzle, are easier. What we enjoyed most about the room is that it is a very “hands-on” or tactile room.
The set is compact and cleverly designed to work with the puzzles and the game flow — and most of the action takes place “on board” the ship, which adds to the immersive pirate adventure. The puzzles are nicely varied, each with a logical flow that keeps you thinking without feeling stuck. While the technology and room design may not be as flashy as some of the latest escape rooms, they deliver an enjoyable and satisfying experience. These elements combine to make Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle an very good choice for newcomers or those looking to dip their toes into the escape room world without feeling overwhelmed. Although experienced players may have an easier time with this escape room the adventure is a fun and satisfying escape room.
All the employees we encountered at PanIQ Room NYC were friendly escape room enthusiasts. We enjoyed chatting with them and sharing our escape room stories. PanIQ Room NYC is situated in an older, smaller office building on 32nd Street, just around the corner from the Empire State Building. If you're planning to play escape rooms in Manhattan, hopefully, you're not driving, as parking can be difficult to find or quite expensive.
This room can be booked from 2 to 10. We believe a group of 3 to 5 is about right for this game - the room is very playable by two experienced players.
