We had a great time playing Treasure Island, and we highly recommend it - we gave it a Fun Factor of 9! This rating is based on many and varied puzzles and puzzle techniques, the clever use of the well-decorated and constructed set, loads of hands-on tactile puzzles that were fun, as well as the comical twist on the pirate-themed room, which had us smiling throughout.
The game starts at a Tiki bar on the shores of a remote island. Brain Games has adorned the Tiki bar with numerous details—some of which you need to focus on for puzzle-solving, while others simply add joy, comic relief and immersive touches to the scenario. This room is filled with puzzles and content; Brain Games provides a 75-minute timer, which does not include the occasional cut scenes* where you will see and hear various content and effects that you are welcome to enjoy since the timer is not running during these moments.
*cut scene - like in a video game where you reach a certain point and pre-recorded content or actions are provided
YOur game starts at a Tiki bar
This room can be booked by 2 to 8. And even with the 75-minute timer it is a challenge getting through all the content. For that reason we recommend a group size of 3 to 5.
We enjoyed the wide variety of puzzles—some requiring observation skills, while others are more physical or activity-based. These are clearly puzzles designed for an escape room - Brain Games succeeds in making them enjoyable and varied…and there is often a comic element involved, often in the feedback. Sometimes it’s hard to know if you’ve done something correctly, so escape rooms often have feedback systems. Most escape rooms rely on straightforward signals like lights or chimes to indicate progress, Brain Games sprinkles in whimsical “mini-moments” that catch you by surprise. These playful touches add a layer of charm to the experience, making it worth slowing down just to appreciate them. It’s a clever twist that keeps the game lighthearted and memorable - and fun.
Even the hint system is fun - you can seek hints from a helpful mounted fish or a talking Lobster!
We love fun hint systems.
How about a talking lobster?
This escape room strikes a sweet balance with its intermediate difficulty level, making it an exciting challenge without being overwhelming. The puzzles are a fantastic mix—some test your powers of observation, others require some serious puzzle logic, and a few even involve a bit of physical problem-solving, keeping your group busy the whole time! There's truly something for every type of puzzle enthusiast.
One of the highlights? The clever (and sometimes downright hilarious) feedback we received whenever we cracked a code or solved a clue. It added an extra layer of fun and kept us grinning from start to finish. We had a great time here!.
We enjoyed that there was a lot of content - although this set is decorated with many details, we did not find it overwhelming or burdensome to sort the details that matter from the details for design purposes.
Many fine details in the set design and props.
We truly appreciated the heads-up that sometimes we would trigger additional content—and that we could enjoy the content knowing that our time clock wasn't running. Regular readers of our reviews know that we're all about savoring the experience; for us, a quick escape time is not the objective. So, we were thankful to hear that Brain Games will do its utmost to ensure everyone playing this room can experience the full game.
