Good first room? Yes

Good for families with young children? Yes

Why this rating? We enjoyed this escape room and recommend it!  It is a joyful and fanciful experience. Experienced players may find the puzzles too basic - but we can recommend this room due to the variety of the puzzles and the amazingly friendly vibe by all the employees we met. This is Escape Room 66’s newest room and we will be back to play their other room. Although the set was whimsical and joyful its set design and props while clean and fun are more on the basic side by production standards. There are no tech elements to this room - tech elements are not essential for a good fun factor, but we wanted to let you know so you can set your expectation. We had a fun time and can recommend the room with a Fun Factor of 6.

This is a great room for beginners as there is a satisfying array of escape-room puzzles - and it will also be a great room for families with younger players as there is a very satisfying amount of tactile manipulation of props - and Escape Room 66’s set design, while basic, should stand up well with its family audience. This room is especially great for families who have concerns over who gets to “use the key.”

Each space of this experience has some non-linear puzzle tracks which makes this a good choice for larger groups as players work on the separate tracks. One of the puzzles at the start of the room was straight-forward enough but there were some written instructions that we did not need and thus found confusing - apparently Escape Room 66 was providing an incentive and strategy to encourage a choice leading to teamwork. The staff explained to us later that not all teams have taken the teamwork approach and thus took steps to address it — we agree with the objective but believe there might be a more effective way to deal with this issue given the game mechanics.

The puzzles were varied and provide a satisfying level of basic complexity and tactile manipulation to be fun and engaging. We encountered a puzzle technique we have not seem before - which is always a treat - but in addition to providing the needed information for the code there is extra information which had us scratching our head for a minute until we decided to (properly) ignore the unnecessary information.

But above all else the vibe of The Mush Room and throughout Escape Room 66 was friendly and welcoming and we knew we were among escape room enthusiasts! Being in such company always increases our fun! And a treat awaits those who solve the mysteries.

Escape Room 66 does not have a parking lot - but we had no trouble finding free parking on the street within approximately a block of its location…but keep this is mind when planning your journey time.
