Amnesia

Quest Room

Los Angeles - 5235 West Adams Blvd, Los Angeles 90016

Date we played was August 25, 2024

Booking size 2 to 6; We recommend 2 to 4

Game time: 60 minutes

Objective: You’ve started classes at your dream university and are particularly enjoying your favorite professor who is also conducting some breakthrough psychological studies with test patients. The professor invited you to a party…but something got out of hand. You wake up in the dark - uncertain of what happened - and no sign of the professor. Your objective find the professor and identify the patient who did this…before something else goes wrong.

Difficulty: Intermediate

Keep in mind that Quest Room describes this as an Interactive Comedy Thriller. This escape room is an immersive event that features an actor in an important role. I know that some people do not enjoy interacting with actors in escape rooms…if this applies to you, then this game might not be for you. We leaned into the dark humor aspect of this Interactive Comedy Thriller and enjoyed the experience.

Quest Room does a very effective job in employing a feature where players are separated at the start in effective and fun ways. Many Quest Room games use this technique - and in general we do not enjoy this…but Quest Room has identified how this technique can organically contribute to the immersion of the scenario and the puzzles.

This room can be played with 2 to 6. Quest Room limits the size to six because some of the areas are more confined. The game flows in a fairly linear way and thus can be enjoyed by just players…having said that there are multiple pathways to achieve the final objective.

                        What is happening!!??!

We enjoyed the immersion of the experience and how the scenario played out and built towards what can only be described as a cinematic ending. Like many theatrical driven experiences with content supplied by live actors Amnesia by Quest Room had fewer puzzles than in a more traditional escape room. We enjoyed how Quest Room effectively used the surroundings and scenario to integrate the puzzles into the world they created in was which made sense and frankly seemed less like puzzles in a escape room and more like problems that needed to be solved given where we are! This is a very satisfying experience and Quest Room did a great job in providing this experience.

There are several locations for Quest Room so make sure you are headed for the right one. This one is at 5235 West Adams Blvd, Los Angeles 90016. Street parking was readily finable for us - but as of our visit Quest Rooms has not been permitted to put up any signage so that was a bit tricky. To their credit they did send us an aerial photo in the email confirmation - but I recommend that they also note the absense of signage in their confirmations…would have helped us be sure we were in the right spot.
